The artist

Kaliyah Marie Flores is a Puerto Rican artist based out of Ocala, FL. With a background in mixed media art, photography, videography, and website design, Kaliyah is an artist of many trades. With a vibrant personality and a vivacious thirst for life, she displays her love of the world through her art.

motivation

My motivation to create is the pursuit of self expression. My art comes from my heart with the intent to express my views and experiences in the world. Everything i create is represents specific times in my life and experiences I have gone through as a way to let out every part of my creative mind.

favorite medium

Being a multi-media Artist, I have a love for many mediums. However, my favorite medium would have to be acrylic or water-based acrylic markers. The control I experience in creating with those mediums give me a beautiful space to work within.

inspiration

The inspiration behind my art is the pure expression of my perspective as a proud Puerto Rican woman at that. I love to pull different aspects of my culture and memories from growing up as a child in Chicago, Il into my pieces whether its in the form of stylistic decisions or subject matter.

my background

Being a Florida based Artist, it is quite funny that I am not a native Floridian. I was actually born in Chicago, Illinois in 2003. Growing up in Chicago until I was about 10 years old, my love of art developed. My grandmother being my main source of creating being crafty herself, was exactly what I needed to let that love blossom. Whether we were painting garden sculptures or decorating “fairy houses”, we were always expressing creativity. Moving to Florida at 10 years old, gave me a chance to mold myself in the art lover I am today.
